Title: Yachting strikes north of the border
WIP Yachting strikes again - this time north of the border
Last weekend (9th-11th May 2008), members of the Women in Property
Yachting Team entered the 17th Clyde Property Cruise from Rothesay (Isle
of Bute) to Tarbert (Mull of Kintyre) and won the CHESTERTON QUAICH
merit prize, sailing yacht Dipper into a commanding position despite
very light winds and an unfortunate grounding shortly after the start,
which was corrected by ingenious use of the spinnaker pole! Dipper had
regained in the lead at the first mark, however the challenging wind
conditions allowed the rest of the fleet to catch up and a couple of
boats to overtake on the shortened course.
Accepting our prize, awarded "for Endeavour", our skipper Jimmy Fisher
acknowledged that he could hardly claim lack of local knowledge, as the
point at which we touched bottom in Rothesay Harbour was opposite the
house in which he had been born - refreshing honesty which received warm
applause from the rest of the crews at the Prizegiving dinner.
Congratulations to the crew: Lesley Logan (Morgan Ashurst), Alison Smith
(Coda Architects) Rachel Reid (Aedas) Carol Bell (RLF Construction &
Property Consultants) Joe Logan (Logan Construction Management Ltd) and
Ewan Crawford (HBG).
