On 27 June, the Yorkshire Branch of Women in Property hosted a lunchtime seminar at which Dawn O’Keefe of the Camberwell Project spoke.

The Camberwell Project is committed to supporting social entrepreneurs, community activists and leaders to be successful. Camberwell is developing new enterprise models to inspire entrepreneurs in deprived areas and achieve financial sustainability.

Dawn has held many leadership positions as a consultant managing multi-million pound projects for blue-chip clients in the US and UK. After spending 12 years in the US making billion dollar corporations more efficient, Dawn realised that her future lay in returning to her native Yorkshire and contributing to its regeneration through social enterprise development. In 2006, Dawn and three colleagues formed the Camberwell Project, which combines entrepreneurial zeal with a commitment to helping social enterprises to develop and grow.
Dawn contributes to the efforts of the group's non-profit organisation and volunteers her time to Inspa, a local community-based support organisation.

Dawn outlined Camberwell’s current projects, which include a £4m scheme to renovate a derelict school in Harehills. She also discussed how Camberwell is developing new enterprise models to inspire entrepreneurs in deprived areas and achieve financial sustainability
