Student Awards in the Birthday Year
Black tie dinner on Tuesday, 25th September 207

Location:

Claridge's London

The National Association of Women in Property announced the winner of their Student Awards at Claridge’s, London. The winner Fiona Forrest studies Property Development and Valuation at Glasgow Caledonian University.

The judges selected Fiona Forrest for her eloquent responses, in depth knowledge of her profession, the environment and general property issues alongside a clear vision for the future.

The Awards are part of the Women in Property’s 20th Birthday celebrated by its 1500 members and were open to second year female students studying a built environment degree course.

Fiona Forrest, received £1000 and the trophy and was one of the nine Regional Winners, who each won £500, a summer work placement with a relevant employer, a mentor and membership of the Association.

Cathy Stewart, Chairman of Women in Property said “Fiona Forrest is an outstanding winner and I know she will go on to be a real ambassador for Women in Property.

“Women in Property Awards recognises excellence and is designed to be practical, providing work placements for the students in some of the best property companies in the UK.

“The success of the Awards, which originally were designed just to run in our 20th Birthday Year, means we shall run them again next year on an even bigger scale.

“The judges for the National Winner all agreed it was a real honour to meet such motivated women from a diverse range of professions, who were all clearly role models of tomorrow.

“Our awards scheme are a natural development from our ‘Education Roadshows’ where our members visit schools to talk directly to girls about career opportunities in property and construction.

Talking at these events showed us just how little is known at school about the career opportunities in the world of property and construction. This feedback inspired our awards which is contributing to raising awareness as well as rewarding talented students.

“With a recognised severe skills shortage in our industry all the companies supporting our awards see it as a way of talking directly to students about career openings in their particular organisation as well as supporting the Association.”

The Association whose membership includes architects, surveyors, and other professionals encourages girls and women to go into the world of property and supports the retention of women in the industry through its unique mentoring programme.
